acne.jpgThroughout history, a face full of acne has been a self-imposed death sentence on dating. At about age 12, just when boys and girls are starting to get really interested in each other, their faces sprout technicolor pimples, and they stick around for five years or more which feels like forever.

Ways To Get Rid of Zits

1. Stop picking on your zits. You risk infecting the surrounding skin and have it spread like wildfire and that’s the least of your worries. To add insult to injury, it risks scarring and that’s even harder to remove.

2. Don’t overwash or overscrub a zit. Overzealous cleansing will only strip your skin of the natural oils it needs to be healthy. This leaves your pores unprotected and susceptible to getting a zit, and will also irritate a zit that’s already there. To get rid of a zit, wash it (don’t scrub) with a gentle cleanser no more than twice a day and moisturize your skin afterwards.

3. Try to prevent the occurrence of zits as much as you can. For the purpose, keep your skin clean by washing it regularly with warm water and a mild soap. This is the best way to get rid of zits.

4. Young skin looks great without makeup. But if you like cosmetics, be sure to choose products that are labeled “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic.” That means the product won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts. Some cosmetics even contain acne-fighting ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. If you are not sure, ask your parent or doctor. This is one of the simple way to get rid of zits.

5. Pimples are so annoying especially when they get all red and yellowish. What you can do is to get an ice cube and place it on your zit for a few seconds to ease off that redness.

6. You can go for over the counter products based on benzoyl peroxide. Check on the label of the product you wish to purchase and make sure you select the one with the lowest concentration.

7. Dip your towel in hot water, not boiling hot. Place the wet area over your zit and let it stay till the cloth cools down. It will help in reducing the size of the zit and make it less noticeable. This is one of the easiest way to get rid of zits.

8. Washing your face regularly is a good idea because it helps remove dead skin cells, excess oil, and dirt from your skin’s surface. But overwashing or scrubbing your skin too hard can dry out and irritate your skin, which only makes acne worse.

9. Put cornstarch and water together and mix, until it forms a thick and creamy paste. Apply it on the zit before going to bed and leave overnight. Wash off in the morning.

These are the best ways to get rid of zits.
